WHAT THE WALL STREET JOURNAL FELL FOR

My friend Danny Sheehan has given me permission to copy-paste into my substack his terrific column for the New Paradigm Institute about the Wall Street Journal falling for a Pentagon disinformation scam about the UAP phenomenon. Here it is:

This week, we take a closer look at one of the most obvious U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community disinformation campaigns we’ve ever witnessed in America. As many of you know, our New Paradigm Institute just released a White Paper on Disinformation, which could not have arrived in your inbox at a more opportune time. Just last Friday, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) published an article titled The Pentagon Disinformation That Fueled America’s UFO Mythology (Link to the MSN Version that is non-paywalled), followed almost immediately by a sensationalist article in the New York Post (both owned by alleged former U.S. CIA Covert Operations operative Ruphert Murdoch). The timing and framing of both of these articles are not coincidental. They appear to be the product of a coordinated effort on the part of the very forces we criticized in our earlier white paper, i.e. these articles seem to be part of a disinformation campaign designed to confuse the American public and undermine decades of credible eyewitness testimony.

Some pushback has already emerged against our critique of the WSJ's claim that the 1967 Malmstrom Air Force Base incident was an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) test undertaken by our U.S. military. Rather than getting sidetracked by a technical debate with these critics, let us, instead, simply highlight the voices of those who were there at the time of the UFO shutdowns of the U.S. nuclear missiles that are the subject of the articles:

In a recent NewsNation segment, journalist Ross Coulthart made a critical point about the WSJ article. He said, “This doesn’t explain the first-hand witnesses who say they have seen craft and have direct knowledge of a UAP program.” Our focus belongs on these witnesses.

Firsthand Testimony: Malmstrom Air Force Base, 1967

On March 16 and March 24, 1967, near the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, two separate missile sites, “Echo Flight” and “Oscar Flight”, experienced the simultaneous and entirely unexplained shutdown of ten Minuteman ICBMs at each site - while reporting a “UFO” hovering over or near their site.

The 1967 Malmstrom incidents remain among the most compelling cases of UAP interference with nuclear assets. Known as “The Echo Flight & The Oscar Flight Shutdowns”. Between the two shutdowns, a total of twenty nuclear missiles simultaneously went offline during the two different “UFO encounters” (10 missiles at each site). The most well-known eyewitness to these events is retired U.S. Air Force Captain Robert Salas, who has consistently testified about what he experienced while on duty during Oscar Flight. His account has never wavered.

But Captain Salas is not alone. During a recent conversation with Bob, he reminded me of another key figure, Lieutenant Colonel Dwynne Arneson. In 1967, Arneson served as the Officer-in-Charge of the 28th Air Division Top Secret Encrypted Communications Center at the Malmstrom U.S. Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. I had the privilege of meeting Arneson in 2001 when I served as General Counsel for the Disclosure Project. In his Disclosure Project testimony, Arneson said that, in March of 1967, he personally read an official encrypted message that unequivocally reported that a UFO had physically hovered directly above a missile site and had caused the shutdown of ten ICBMs: “It was very clear. A UFO hovered over a missile site. Ten missiles went down. I handled that communication myself.” In addition to his Disclosure Project testimony, he spoke at length about this incident. This interview is available online and remains an essential historical record.

Lieutenant Colonel Dwynne Arneson

We also have testimony from Colonel Frederick Meiwald, Salas’ commanding officer and the Missile Combat Crew Commander at Oscar Flight in March of 1967. Though more reserved in public, Meiwald confirmed the details of this event in interviews and documented conversations. He noted that a Security Alert Team reported a bright, low-flying object near one of the silos during the shutdown event.

There is also Bob Kaminski, the Boeing Corporation engineer who was assigned to lead the internal investigation into the separate but similar “Echo Flight Shutdown.” Kaminski’s findings were definitive. He reported no technical cause for the failure. His team was later officially ordered to “stop your investigation and do NOT file any final report.” Kaminski was blunt about what happened next. “We were told this was ‘a UFO event’ and to ‘leave it alone’.”

What About NORAD?

While no official documents from North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) have been officially released yet officially confirming the Malmstrom event, both Bob Salas and Dwayne Arneson have testified under oath that NORAD was, in fact, officially briefed on these “UFO Shutdowns.” Given NORAD’s responsibility for missile defense and strategic monitoring, any such incident would, to an absolute certainty, have been officially reported to NORAD through official channels. The absence to date of any public documentation of these events, which have been directly attested to by so many first-hand witnesses who are beyond reproach, is itself evidence of deliberate concealment.

No Evidence of EMP

It is important to be clear. No eyewitness, including Salas, Arneson, Meiwald, or Kaminski, ever mentioned evidence of any EMP. The WSJ’s report of the claim by the Defense Department (to AARO) that this incident was a secret “official EMP test” is totally unsupported by any testimony and absolutely unsubstantiated by any primary source. Neither the WSJ article nor the New York Post article offers any “documentation” whatsoever to support their shared assertion. Both simply woodenly repeat a narrative that is completely contrary to the attested-to facts.

A Call to Action

The real story here is not just about Malmstrom. It’s about how two American news outlets are apparently being used by the forces of reaction to spread mis-information. In my view this is part of a deeply unconstitutional strategy to bury the truth concerning the reality of the UFO phenomenon by conveying totally discredited false narratives - just like the weather balloon story following the UFO Crash at Roswell.

This is why our New Paradigm Institute has launched the Investigate the Use of Disinformation and Classification Abuse campaign. This Call to Action demands a congressional investigation into the misuse of secrecy, the silencing of witnesses, and the deployment of psychological operations and disinformation against the US: The American Public.

We are demanding that Congress obtain the answer to three fundamental questions:

• Who authorized decades of UAP-related lies and disinformation?

• Why are these programs still being concealed?

• Why are classification systems still being used to suppress whistleblower testimony?
